"Five Obamacare Myths"

From today's Bill Keller Op-Ed piece "Five Obamacare Myths"...to commemorate the House Republicans' recent "33rd theatrical vote" to repeal the Affordable Care Act.

If the Obama campaign needs a snappy one-liner, it could borrow this one from David Cutler: “Never before in history has a candidate run for president with the idea that too many people have insurance coverage.”

I don't have yet an opinion formed about obamacare. I know by experience that the universal health care doesn't work in a huge and corrupt country like Brazil. I know obamacare it's not so wide as the Brazilian program but even though I'd like to see it working, just to have an idea if it's a problem of population, poorness or corruption that makes Brazilian program to not work. They say that in Canada and Spain it works, but their population is so small... I will always wish the best to America.

Felipe-I don't know about corruption in Brasil's healthcare system, but it does do some things well. Between SUS and Lavoisier, I feel like I get decent care and medications at very little cost (and I don't even deserve it). I have watched the SUS clinic I go to improve its efficiency over the past few months so that I no longer dread going there. And now I see the same doctor every time.

If I were really sick, I would take advantage of my US insurance, which is good in Brasil, but which I try not to use because of a very high deductible.

The so-called Obamacare is nothing at all like a public healthcare system. Basically it is a structure that is built upon the private insurance industry. The indignation of the US right wing is totaly illogical.
