It's All About Moral Authority

Boy have things changed. The Russian Orthodox Church is now an immensely powerful institution in Russia and the subject of a lot of liberal anger.

The leader of the Russian Orthodox Church leader is photographed wearing a $30,000 Breguet watch on the church's website and becomes the subject of blogger ire. Presto, the sleeve is extended and the watch disappears...but not  the reflection on the table.

As reported in the NY Times, "The church apologized for the deception on Thursday and restored the original photo to the site, but not before Patriarch Kirill weighed in, insisting in an interview with a Russian journalist that he had never worn the watch, and that any photos showing him wearing it must have been doctored to put the watch on his wrist."

It reminds me of a saying from my youth. "You can go to hell for lying too."

And we think we have problems.

In perspective, Bruce Chen starts tonight versus the Angels. The season is underway, all's right with the world.

Chen is Panamanian of Chinese descent, something I didn't know until recently.

Baseball, and you got to listen to Vin Scully, lucky one.

I guess it´s not all about moral authority. It´s partly about really weird headgear.
